What I do before a boudoir shoot

What I Do Before Every Boudoir Shoot (My Go-To Prep Ritual)

There’s something powerful about stepping in front of the camera feeling like your best self. Boudoir isn’t just about the photos — it’s about how you feel while taking them. Over the years, I’ve built a little ritual that helps me show up relaxed, glowing, and confident.

Here’s what I love to do before a boudoir shoot:

1. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job

Water is your best friend before a shoot.Hydration makes your skin look brighter, your body feel better, and your confidence rise. I start increasing my water intake 24 hours before shooting so I feel refreshed and energized.

2. A Long Shower + Shave (If You Want To!)

Boudoir is about feeling good in your skin — not following rules. If shaving is part of your routine, do it the night before to avoid irritation. Add a good shave cream, exfoliate gently, and finish with a rich lotion or oil so your skin looks smooth and soft under the lights.

3. Stretch It Out

This one is underrated.

Posing during boudoir can work muscles you forget existed. A quick stretch, light yoga flow, or even a warm bath can help loosen up your body. When you’re relaxed, your poses look more natural and your confidence shows in every photo.

4. Nails + Light Grooming

You don’t need a full salon day — but cleaned-up nails, moisturized skin, and a little bit of grooming can make you feel more polished and put together. Don’t overthink it. Clean and soft always photographs beautifully.

5. Choose Outfits That Feel Like YOU

Confidence doesn’t come from the lace… it comes from how the lace makes you feel.Pick pieces that match your vibe:✨ Soft + romantic✨ Bold + powerful✨ Playful + cute✨ Dark + mysterious

Lay everything out the night before so you’re not scrambling last minute.

6. Light Makeup + Fluffy Hair

I always go for camera-friendly makeup — nothing too heavy, nothing too bare. A little glow, a little lash, and a lip that makes me feel pretty.

Hair-wise? Volume is your friend. Boudoir LOVES movement, curls, waves, messy texture, wet looks… all of it works.

7. Eat Something Light But Filling

Never show up to a shoot starving.A small balanced meal keeps you energized and helps avoid the sluggish feeling that shows in your posture and expressions.

8. Hype Yourself Up

The real secret? A confidence playlist.

Music sets the tone, boosts your mood, and helps you step into your “main character energy.” I always listen to something that makes me feel sexy, powerful, and in my body.

9. Remember: Boudoir Is For YOU

This is the most important part:Boudoir isn’t about perfection. It’s about celebrating yourself exactly as you are.

When you show up grounded, hydrated, stretched, and cared for — the camera feels that energy.

Preparing your body is great. But preparing your mind is everything.
